About Dock Road Books

Stories with a sense of place
Dock Road Books is an independent home for distinctive fiction shaped by memorable places, authentic voices and the choices that change lives.
From Liverpool's waterfront to stories that travel further afield, we publish novels with atmosphere, character and a strong sense of where they belong. Our books are made for readers who want to be drawn into a world — and to carry something of it with them afterwards.

Our first titles are Red Dress, The Archivist, Tin Sandwich, Melly Strikes Back and Driven: Zee Tees Off — five very different stories connected by bold characters, vivid settings and the belief that a good story can stay with you.

The founder

Dock Road Books was founded by Trevor Davies, who lives in Bootle, a few streets from the dock road that gives the imprint its name. Before turning to fiction he served in the army, worked as a trade union official, taught media in Harare and spent more than twenty years running a media agency across southern and East Africa — years that echo through the books, from Liverpool’s dockside streets to Zimbabwe and the Cape.
